The Bad Larrys –
Genuine Homegrown American Music

For more than a decade, The Bad Larry’s have performed throughout the northwest.  This talented acoustical duo, from the Flathead Valley in Montana, features Jay Aiken on acoustic guitar and Scott Moore on upright bass.  Their signature sound showcases tight vocal harmonies with amusing and often off-beat story telling.  Some have described their style as Willy Nelson meets Lake Woebegon.

Now you have the option of choosing the Duo or the Trio.  Ed Boggs is a talented multi-instrumentalist from the Flathead Valley and can be added to the duo for a sound that includes:  mandolin, fiddle, acoustic guitar, upright bass, kick drum, and vocal harmonies.  The Bad Larry’s with Silent Ed can play any sized venue.

The Bad Larrys play all styles of American Music:  Folk, Country, Blues, Old Time Rock and Roll, and Bluegrass.  They play everything from John Prine and Johnny Cash to Creedence Clearwater and Queen:  all with a touch of humor.

Biography

Jay Aiken grew up in Great Falls, Montana, where he played and sang music in high school. When every other kid was listening to “big hair rock” in the 80’s, Jay was not. He found that he identified with the soul searching, storytelling music of John Prine, Greg Brown and the Tragically Hip. He studied classical guitar at the University of Puget Sound and MSU and eventually graduated with a degree in Psychology from the University of Montana. Jay has performed throughout Europe as well as the five-state area. Twelve years ago, Jay and Scott started playing in bands together. They quickly found that their voices blended in such a fabulous way that they needed to stay together as a duo. Jay and his wife Kari are happily married and he has two children ages thirteen and sixteen. Jay is currently working on putting the finishing touches on his dream home overlooking the entire Flathead Valley.

Scott D Moore was born in Edina, Minnesota where he grew up and graduated from high school. There was always music in the Moore home, and Scott learned to back up his sister Pamela, who is also a professional musician. Scott was very active in high school with Musical Theater, Concert Band, Marching Band and Concert Choir. Scott is a multi-instrumentalist, playing drums, keyboards/piano, guitar, ukulele, lap steel, electric bass and upright bass.  Following his high school days, Scott joined Youth With a Mission where he traveled to 15 different countries playing music and delivering humanitarian relief to those in need. Scott settled down in the Flathead Valley of Montana near Glacier Park 22 years ago. He has a beautiful wife and four children, ages three, five, thirteen and sixteen. Scott’s oldest daughter was diagnosed with cancer at 11 months old and is now cancer free at the age of five; however she became permanently disabled with brain damage during the chemo process. Scott and his wife, Chloe, volunteer and support three main cancer charities: Relay for life, Make a Wish and Hope Kids. Scott has been playing music in his local area for two decades. In 1996 Scott started playing drums in a band with Jay and they soon realized that there strongest asset was their ability to blend well vocally. Scott and Jay continued to play music together even when other band members chased other dreams. Together, they formed and acoustic duo known as The Bad Larrys. Now they perform throughout the country at Fairs, Festivals and Corporate events.

What people are saying:

“The show, full of variety and banter was an obvious match for MontanaFair and worked so well at their location that we needed to add tables. The service club in that location loved them and wants them back. We found them to be just great to work with. They built a fan base and interacted with folks who wanted to spend time with them. People who saw them told friends to go to the fair and enjoy them. We enjoyed meeting them and working with them. We have invited them back.”
